Senior HVAC Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in HVAC system design. This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who prefers to execute their own work rather than manage large teams. The ideal candidate is highly independent, capable of leading projects from concept through construction, and interested in long-term growth into a Principal or Partner-level role. 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead HVAC system design from initial assessment through construction administration
  • Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection
  • Develop construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports
  • Coordinate directly with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, energy standards, and project requirements
  • Oversee project delivery while remaining actively involved in design production
  • Support construction phase services including submittal review and field coordination 





Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of HVAC/mechanical design experience
  • Strong understanding of system design including air distribution, hydronics, and equipment selection
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Experience across commercial, institutional, or industrial project types
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and load calculation software
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred, but not required



Technical / Software skills:

  • Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD for system design and documentation
  • Load calculation tools such as Trane Trace 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, or equivalent
  • Energy modeling and analysis tools such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or similar

Job #1945: Project Manager (Public Safety)


Job Title: Project Manager (Public Safety)

Position Location: Greater Boston

As a Project Manager, you will be an essential team member responsible for the overall management of a project and its team. 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the feasibility study process, supervising the creation of the existing conditions assessment and report, development of a schematic space analysis and conceptual floor plan, and serving as the primary author for narratives explaining the building program, design concepts, and systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the client and their representatives throughout the life of the project. Attend meetings, preparing and making presentations, sometimes in a public setting.
  • Serve as the project lead in matters of broad and finite project program development. Arrange and attend meetings with the client and their project stakeholders to develop a complete program for the building and its features. Convey information developed to the Project Architect / Job Captain and others as appropriate. Participate in securing government agency approval of developed program and design concept. Monitor the project through subsequent design phases for adherence to program.
  • Monitor and participate in obtaining governmental approvals, attending meetings and supervising the project team in securing approvals such as site and conservation permitting, building and energy code permitting, utility company approvals, etc.
  • Work with the Job Captain and Project Principal to provide direction to production team in matters of budget, scope, value engineering, monetary impacts of changes during construction, and similar issues.
  • Attend regularly scheduled site meetings during construction to monitor progress, review progress payment requests, etc. Work with the Project Architect / Job Captain to review requested changes to the contract sum and claims.
  • With the Project Principal, develop, negotiate, and administer contracts with project consultants.
  • Monitor project financials and review office and consultant invoices.
  • Participate with Business Development staff in potential project client meetings and interviews, and in creation and review of marketing materials.




Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited program of Architecture, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Architectural Licensure in MA
  • 5-8 years of experience in architecture, including 5 years of Project Management experience on multiple projects. Experience in Public Safety sector is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative personality. The ability to speak comfortably and present to clients is imperative.
  • Excellent writing skills: ability to produce narrative language for existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, and similar documents
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Public Bidding laws (Massachusetts MCPPO certification preferred)
  • LEED accreditation preferred



Technical / Software skills:

  • Experience with Revit in a production and coordination environment
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or related software

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site observations during any active construction as may be reasonably

        necessary to determine in general if progress and quality of the Work being

        performed will be in conformance with the Contract Documents when completed.

  • Notify the Firm Project Manager immediately if work does not conform to the

        Contract Documents or requires special inspection or testing. Create and maintain

        a non-conforming work log.

  • Monitor the Contractor’s progress as it relates to the construction schedule and

        alert the Firms Project Manager to conditions that may lead to delays in

        completion of the Work.

  • Coordinate all required special inspections and materials testing with third-party

        testing agency, including scheduling, on-site support, and ensuring timely reporting to

        the owner & OPM team and project stakeholders

  • Attend all construction coordination and other meetings as directed by the Firms

        Project Manager.

  • Maintain a log of Daily Construction Reports (DCR) of the construction activities

        Observed.

  • In cooperation with the Architect, review the work and prepare interim and final

        punch lists for the Contractor.

  • Update field plans and specifications based upon issuance of RFIs, CCD’s, ASI’s, etc.
  • Visit any locations for materials being billed for but located off-site.



Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience in the construction and supervision
    of buildings in Massachusetts
  • Expertise and experience in design or construction of public K-12 schools in 
    Massachusetts is preferred
  • Familiarity with reading project plans, specifications, and reviewing the work and -
    quality performed by subcontractors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate
    clearly and concisely is paramount.
  • Physical ability to traverse construction sites
  • Must have vehicle

  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Projects

  • Serve as a principal decision maker related to issues such as application of building codes to the project and assuring code compliance, selection of construction materials, technical aspects of the building design, construction technology, and constructability.
  • In concert with the Project Manager, hold responsibility for budgeting and managing the staff hours in which the project documents will be completed. 
  • Establish direction for and supervise the production team via distribution of tasks to team members, review of produced work, and creation of redlines to describe and detail the work to be done or corrected.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination, serving as liaison with all team consultants.
  • Supervise production of all addenda and bid question responses during the bidding process. Establish an Addendum schedule, and coordinate issues requiring consultant responses.
  • Working with the Project Manager, supervise the construction administration process, leading the review of technical aspects of and responses to submittals and RFI’s. Supervise the creation of sketches, RFI Responses, Proposal Requests, and other instruments of change.



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Architectural Licensure in MA
  • 5+ years’ experience in Architectural projects, with minimum 5 years’ experience managing production teams of multiple staff
  • 5 years’ production experience in design and drafting using Revit software, possessing an in-depth working knowledge of the current version of the software is required
  • Excellent communications skills and proactive interaction with others. Ability to deal with multiple personality types and mentor others on the production team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Public Bidding Laws (MCPPO certification strongly preferred)

of complex educational projects. This position is ideal for a mid-to senior-level designer or architect with strong technical and BIM expertise who is passionate about educational design and interested in a career path to Project Architect or Project Manager role over time. The Senior Project Designer plays a critical role in developing conceptual designs into buildable solutions, working closely with project leadership, consultants, and clients to deliver quality buildings.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to design development and construction documentation for K–12

        and related educational projects.

  • Support exploration of design concepts and alternatives
  • Produce clear, coordinated, and technically sound construction documents using BIM software.
  • Produce clear presentation graphics that communicate project goals and design intent
  • Coordinate closely with the internal design team and external consultants to ensure

integrated project delivery

  • Assist with code analysis, technical detailing, and quality control throughout all project phases

Required Qualifications:

Job Title: Jr. Interior Designer

Degree Required:  Master’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or a Master’s of Architecture degree


The Jr. Interior Designer is responsible for providing design and technical detailing support to the project team. The position actively participates in project discussions, reliably completes assigned work, proactively seeks out additional ways to contribute, and builds agility with the organization, components and documentation phases of projects.


Requirements:

  • (1-5) years of experience as an interior designer/architect in a client services firm
